I’m loving being part of Art-K Truro.  Sara is an amazing teacher and mentor.  She is giving me so much confidence and with this I’m improving my artistic skills in a short space of time.

I have been coming to art-K for a month now and can say I am thoroughly enjoying it - Katie has continued to offer me great advice on how I can approach my painting and drawing, alongside some awesome tips when tackling new styles. She is enthusiastic and has accommodated for various requests on equipment that I can use in class.

I have been looking for some time for a relaxed daytime art class that will further explore my artistic experience. I believe I have found this with Art K and Jenny. Firstly, all materials are supplied and the studio is filled with a wonderful light in the afternoon. Jenny helps us to tackle the work of very different and challenging artists and encourages us to create our own unique versions. I highly recommend Jenny and Art K to both beginners and anyone wishing to explore and develop their artistic style.

Recently as my business was winding down, I thought Id try my hand at painting. After messing around for about 9 months, I realised I had a lot to learn.  On finally retiring last October, I sought out an art class, so now I'm learning fast thanks entirely to Sally at Art-K. After just a few lessons, already I am producing some decent work. She is a brilliant teacher, light touch, great warmth, easy atmosphere, no pressure. I thoroughly recommend Art-K.

After many years of wanting to get back to painting I finally started and have found the past few weeks at Art-K so rewarding. Stacey is a wonderful teacher and I've already learned many new techniques. It also never ceases to amaze how quickly the time flies by! Thank you!

I've just finished my first term - I love it! Everyone made me feel very welcome. I find that I am stretching myself using different mediums; Stacey is very helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I really look forward to my class each week; I consider it a little oasis.

I love Steve's art classes; they are an oasis of calm in a busy week. I am learning new skills and techniques and I am truly happy with the work I am producing. Steve's teaching style is calm and relaxed yet challenging enough so that I am continuously progressing.

The art-K sessions have renewed my love of painting and, thanks to Sally, I am learning exciting new techniques. I look forward to Thursdays very much, not only for the art but also for the company which is great fun.

The art class is one of the highlights of my week. I am doing something for me which, as a Mum, I don't get to do very often! I have learnt how to do watercolour painting, how to use mixed media such as clay and I am really enjoying being able to experiment. Sally makes it relaxing and calm environment and we get to have fun with the other members of the class.

The classes will teach across a range of mediums -acrylics, oils, pastels, watercolours- and will also work on 3D projects with clay. Drawing skills will be interwoven throughout the course. We have a wide variety of projects from which the group can decide what they would like to do next.

Although there is flexibility in the course, there is also structure for the less experienced artist who is looking to learn new artistic skills. The classes are lead by talented artists who are able to teach and assist you with new techniques or provide you with ideas if you are more experienced.

We discuss inspirational artists from the Impressionists to David Hockney to Ann Blockley, who is a vibrant watercolour artist, and we experiment using their techniques.

All materials are provided in the classes.

A Welcome From Our Founder

Kathryn Harper

From our experience, adults enjoy both 2D and 3D projects so we explore everything in our adult art classes. We have an extensive number of projects at our fingertips, but we encourage each group to decide what project to do next as the choice should be yours.

You will experience mediums such as watercolours, acrylics, oils, pastels, oil pastels, pencil but also clay and papier maché if you wish. Although it is wonderful to learn about proportion, perspective and composition sometimes it’s great to just feel like a child again!

We offer a flexible and tailored art tuition programme that will have you progressively developing new skills every session. We are able to provide personal, step-by-step tuition as our classes are small.

Join our classes to see your artistic skills flourish.

When Kathryn got in touch to ask if the children could use my artwork for inspiration I was more than delighted.  With art often being squeezed out of the curriculum its even more important to find alternative ways of getting children creative. The children have produced some wonderful pieces of art with the specialist help of art-K putting their own ideas and influences into them. Well done!

We were delighted to know Art-K use our paintings to inspire children and the results we saw were fantastic. The peacock paintings in particular are fabulous. We hope you continue to inspire lots more children to pick up a paintbrush in the future and get cracking. It's the best job there is!

It's wonderful to see how Art-K work with young people to help them find their creative voice. I'm so glad that in some of this work they find my books to be useful creative tools, or catalysts for the imagination. I think it is so important in this world where children are often ignored that they are given opportunities to express themselves and discover the talents that lie within all of us.
