Q: What do a Marmite jar, hand sanitiser, and a Coca Cola can have in common? 🤔

A: They’re all characters in the art-K universe, thanks to our clever students! 👨‍🎨

We’ve been helping our students find artistic inspiration in their surroundings at home, by turning everyday objects into illustrative characters. As well as using their creative imagination, they practised watercolour blending and character design… with amazing results! Here are some of our favourites 🤩

Esté will be joining us this Saturday at 5pm, delivering a virtual masterclass to our lucky art-K Zoom members! ⁠

Esté's workshop will teach us how to create animals, starting from the shape: “?”. The question mark is such a versatile shape - but one that we rarely think of deeply! Esté will illuminate us to what we can achieve, all with a little imagination. It may be you start to see question marks everywhere you look... ⁠

Last week our younger students took inspiration from Elke Trittel, a German mixed-media artist 🇩🇪 🙌 @elketrittel We’ve loved seeing the vibrant, fantastical creatures taking shape in the lessons – and the very happy faces of the young artists themselves! Here are two of our students from @artkashtead and @artkgreenwich with their work from last week 😍🌟

This week many of our students are moving onto clay! We’re so excited to focus on sculpture over the next few weeks. For some of our students, it will be their first experience of working with clay – a chance to develop their spatial awareness and dexterity in a whole new medium! Stay tuned to see what we make…

Hello! Following the national lockdown announcemen

Hello! Following the national lockdown announcement last Monday, we wanted to update you on how we’ll be teaching art over the next few weeks!

🖌️ All our studios are closed until the current restrictions are lifted.
🖌️ Until then, we are moving our studio lessons online! We have an exciting term lined up, working with a range of mediums including clay. We’re setting up our online classes to mimic our studio approach, with small classes that allow close interaction between our teacher and students.
🖌️ We’re also organising extra entertainment throughout the term, such as themed masterclasses, and special guest artist events from artists at the Royal Academy and beyond! These are all complimentary for studio students signed up to the online term.
🖌️ Current students have all been contacted - but if you have any questions, please email your branch!
🖌️ For new students interested in joining us - you can join our normal weekly Zoom classes - link in bio☝️
