Second in the Fun Facts series, we have 5 Fun Facts About Watercolours.
Watercolour painting is an extremely old form of creating artwork. Ancient cave paintings across the world created with pigments mixed with water.
Before the 18th century, watercolour painters had to make their paints themselves. They used pigments purchased from an apothecary and mixed them with gum arabic or water. They were often used as a precursor to oil paints in order to sketch out a design, with a translucent wash of colour, but today are a painting medium in their own right.
