We’re looking to find a passionate, motivated and friendly Assistant Art Teacher to join our team at art-K Horsforth! You will be supporting our Art Teachers with the running of the session and the upkeep of the studio, ensuring our students get the best experience when attending our classes.

Job responsibilities

  • Work in a fun, club environment with high teacher-student ratios where children are enthusiastic about art.

  • Support class preparations, for example:
  • Laying out materials
  • Talking through aims with your manager
  • Sharpening pencils
  • Washing paintbrushes
  • Cutting out templates and other requests made by your manager

The ideal candidate will:

  • Art degree or equivalent skills

  • Someone who lives within 30 minutes of the branch
  • Flexibility to assist in other branches within a reasonable commuting distance in cases of staff absence

The job holder’s purpose is to work in the Central Team of around 10 specialists that support the company’s processes and procedures for the common purpose of growing the number of students benefiting from our artistic development programme. The company has grown in 7 years to 50 settings, teaching 6000+ students per week with over 100 employees. art-K is still a company where ideas can be assessed and translated rapidly into action within the supportive team. This is a role dedicated to identifying, creating, tracking and developing opportunities to celebrate art in our studios, and to enable the company to continue to grow.

What you’ll do:

The job broadly breaks down into 2 sections; team management and coordination of operations. In these roles, you will be closely guided and supported by the Managing Director.

Coordination of operations

Data:

  • Write and implement data analysis to identify, from a data point of view, what makes a specific club success. This will be used to support improvement of Quality Management Systems. Other applications could include refining class timings, local studio amenities, customer communications.
  • Run sales reports to track and monitor company growth by club, deducing trends where appropriate. This data will be used to identify future possible marketing strategies and revenue streams.
  • Take research – provided by customer support - on customer motivations for booking, use that to discuss and develop understanding of how we can turn those learnings into new opportunities.

Implementation:

  • Train art teachers on quality management systems to support the clubs’ success.
  • Train the teachers on how to access the booking system and on how to access key success data for their club.
  • Coordinate new initiatives set in the company for new revenue streams with the central team. Interacting with the central team consisting of customer service, HR, graphic design, marketing and development employees.
  • Create feedback loops to understand the success of the new initiatives and visit art-K branches to see them materialise into reality. Discuss any issues that arise to enable quick and active re-evaluation of the new initiatives

Further long term projects include building the art-K brand further supported by the Directors:

  • Building partnerships within the education space to raise the brand awareness of art-K.
  • Support securing corporate sponsorship to open up access even further to our classes.

Team management

  • Managing a small team of marketing and administrative central team members to support the company’s mission and ongoing projects.
  • Mentor those team members to excel in their roles; providing active feedback and training where required so they feel confident and able.
  • Holding weekly meetings to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Creating a warm and welcoming team environment to allow individuals to grow and develop.

Formal Qualifications

A based degree 2:1 or above

Experience

4+ years in a relatable role.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications generally.
  • High proficiency in Excel to be able to write competent report.

Job Purpose

In the studio

  • Ad-hoc cover support or support on launch events.

Booking System

  • Work across the booking system; creating a better customer UX to capture more bookings. Improving functionality at the backend to improve the company’s productivity.
  • Take the lead on monitoring and updating the booking system and interfacing with the developers, specifying opportunities identified for future improvement.
  • Respond in real time to day-to-day enquiries from staff
  • Maintain a relationship with the company’s software provider with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Be an advocate of the system and build trust in the system while training or retraining users.
  • Judge each situation to ensure the end customer receives an answer to the enquiry in a timely manner; sometimes training or consulting with staff, sometimes intervening directly because time is of the essence.
  • Using the statistics and evidence available from the booking system and conduct market research to support Sales.
  • Support Sales in the reporting of growth metrics and deducing trends where possible.

Events operations

  • Coordinate with Marketing on event opportunities.
  • Manage the operational element for the events e.g. resources required for each aspect.

  • Download, organise, present and analyse data for managers to make informed decisions.
  • Complete analysis to enable the company to decide e.g. which provider is the most cost efficient for a marketing drive we’re doing.
  • Integrating Trustpilot through Zapier, to ensure invitations are automatically sent out after a customer purchases a class. Analysing data to determine if there are any issues.

Customer Service

  • Support team@art-k.co.uk inbox management; directing enquiries to the right branches.

Ad hoc other duties

  • Childcare vouchers - managing applications, training new teachers on process. Ordering supplies for new club launches.
  • Operational assistance as and when required.
  • Email/ phone support for teachers.
  • Going on studio visits to support clubs’ operational requirements.
  • Helping on ‘launch days’; setting up a new club as a team effort. - Visiting clubs to provide administrative training sessions and help support/foster connections within the art-K community

Formal Qualifications

  • Excel skills – ability to use COUNTIF, VLOOKUP and create tables is a plus - High level computer skills

art-K is a private art education service which teaches children (who love art!) weekly during the day, after school and on the weekend. art-K has developed a specialist art program that tutors art skills to create great pieces of art. We are the largest art education service in England, teaching over 5000 children nationally per week!

Our Oxford branch has a wonderful group of students! 75% of the teacher's time is dedicated to teaching the students and preparing for the classes, 25% to admin and promotion.

The successful applicant will be given full training in our teaching methods and techniques to run the club. The employee will be closely supported by the central support team as well as other art teachers, each based in their own art studio.

  • Embark on a 2 year training programme, gaining experience across a broad range of subjects: teaching, art techniques, child development, systems and customer engagement.
  • Have face-to-face training on all art projects by Kathryn, the Creative Director.
  • Undergo training on administration and growth which is intrinsic to the club's development.
  • Work on projects to contribute to the art-K programme by liaising with the whole team.
  • Build relationships with students and parents, who continue learning at art-K for many years.
  • Manage ad-hoc studio maintenance.

The ideal candidate will:

We’re looking to find a passionate, motivated and friendly Assistant Art Teacher to join our team at art-K Clapham! You will be supporting our Art Teachers with the running of the session and the upkeep of the studio, ensuring our students get the best experience when attending our classes.

Job responsibilities

  • Support the students’ ongoing learning environment by:
  • Running workshops in school holidays.
  • Ad-hoc cover when the branch manager is ill or on holiday - preparing and leading classes.
  • Ad-hoc cover of nearby studios when required - preparing and leading classes.
