We have both daytime classes (for those who are isolated and/or shielding) as well as weekly sessions after-school and in the evenings.
Our classes are for: 6-9 year olds, 9-11 year olds, 11-14 year olds and adults.
Younger groups have a maximum of 6 students, so that every child has a chance to speak and ask questions whenever they need help. Some students prefer to focus their camera on their art work instead of their face; whatever is most comfortable, we can work with.
Each week, we design a new project for each age bracket that is appropriate for their age in terms of visual perception and dexterity. We expect small discrepancies even within the age bands, so we’re ready with some extra fine details where needed, to keep everyone motivated equally.
The aim of the sessions is to get students improving their artistic skills and having fun all from the comfort of their homes. The power of art can do wonders to keep our minds engaged and add a sense of balance and calm to our lives.
Materials lists and health and safety advice on paints are available on request/booking. We have tried to keep the materials list as simple as possible to avoid a high cost of entry to the classes, mainly focusing on watercolours and graphite.
Students can join at any point in the term and the Autumn term is focusing on acrylic and watercolour projects.
Lesson Plan Example
6-9 and 9-11 years old;
- Visual memory activity to develop visual pictorial memory
- Draw, paint a watercolour picture using a resist technique with oil pastels or wax crayons.
- The activities and images used differ for the different age brackets.
11-14 year olds
- Light source starter activity
- Facial features in different medium, progressing to portraits.
Below is a summary of days and times available with our different art leaders.
Ben is very pleased with your feedback! You are giving the children some excellent projects each week, fun to create and so good for their art education, thank you.
I just wanted to say a big thank you for your super Zoom sessions – Amelie loves it and she takes it quite seriously (uncharacteristically)! I’ve been in the kitchen for some of them and love your calm and relaxed approach.
Just to say we both appreciate your effort and the results are pretty incredible – amazing pictures but also a happy, absorbed little girl who has a welcome escape from work and her annoying family!!!
