Helping Children Grow Through Art
At art-K, children develop a wide range of artistic and creative skills through weekly art classes that are enjoyable, engaging and rewarding.
Every student is taught individually and follows a personalised programme, allowing them to progress at a pace that suits them. Our structured curriculum is made up of carefully planned projects, arranged in an order that helps each child build their skills step by step. Most projects are designed with specific age groups in mind, taking into account children’s developmental stages, interests and abilities. This means students are introduced to the right challenges at the right time, helping them develop their artistic skills and reach their full potential.
There are projects for all students from 5 to 18 years and appropriate classes for all ages. Our goal is to give every student the opportunity to explore, experiment and grow as an artist while developing confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of art and culture.
What Children Learn in Our Weekly Art Classes
At art-K, children learn drawing, painting, sculpting and foundational art techniques through a structured programme designed to support long-term artistic development.
As students progress, they learn to:
- Strengthen drawing and observational skills
- Explore a wide range of artistic materials and techniques
- Develop creative thinking and problem-solving abilities as they learn that mistakes are a valuable part of the creative process
- Build confidence by taking on increasingly ambitious projects
- Create more accomplished and technically developed artwork over time
- Reflect on their own progress through portfolios of completed artwork
- Every new skill builds on previous learning, helping children see meaningful progress while continuing to enjoy the creative process.
Each project builds on the one before. For example, a clay board project is the first time a student in one programme will go from a 2D design to a 3D relief sculpture. This sculpture will introduce how to build contours of an animal’s face, which builds in the 3D world depth and perspective skills. When that student returns to their next drawing project, they now have practical understanding of the depth of an animal face and will next learn how they can represent that with their pencil.

Communication is Important to Us
We know that every child is different, and every family is too. At art-K, relationships matter; from your first enquiry, our team takes the time to get to know your child, understand their interests, what they want to get out of the classes and help them feel comfortable as they begin their art-K journey.
We put a lot of energy into creating positive relationships with families, with:
-
Pre-trial conversation
To understand your child's needs and interests
-
Post trial
Discussions at the end of class and a follow up call afterwards to hear your feedback on the experience, after a discussion with your child.
-
Ongoing communication
With teachers at the end of class and regular progress updates according to your preferences: in a call, text or email.

Regular Feedback
At the end of each class our teachers talk to parents to share what their child has worked on that session. Teachers also provide written feedback and can have 1-1 phone calls on request.
Developing Skills
Children build a collection of artwork over time, allowing both students and parents to see their artistic development clearly.
Student Exhibitions
Celebrate their hard work and creativity by viewing their artwork in dedicated exhibitions in the studio and once a year at art-K‘s annual exhibition. art-K‘s annual exhibition has recently been hosted at Oxo Gallery from 2024 onwards, on London’s South Bank, giving students the opportunity to showcase their work in a professional exhibition setting.

Every child is different and when they love art, and want to learn, then art-K is the only art class that personalises the learning journey to the individual student. No. Students join with a wide range of experience levels and every child follows a personalised programme tailored to their current abilities and interests.
Children build skills gradually over time, developing confidence and artistic ability through weekly lessons and individual development.
Confidence often grows when children are given opportunities to try new things, solve problems and see their own improvement over time. In art, there is no one “right” way of doing things; there are foundational skills that are important to learn but experimentation and curiosity often uncover new ways of doing things.
At art-K we see as students experiment and learn from their mistakes in a supportive they begin to recognise what they are capable of achieving. Children they become more self-assured in their own skills and are willing to share their ideas both inside and outside the classroom.
Children work on individual projects while sharing a creative space with other young artists. This allows them to meet like-minded children who share similar interests, often leading to friendships that develop naturally over time.
Many families value the combination of expert teaching, personalised learning and a genuine sense of community. As children develop skills, confidence and friendships, art-K often becomes a trusted and enjoyable part of family life.
