What you'll learn
Our workshops are all about exploration and discovery: learning to use new mediums in new ways, in a fun and non-pressured environment.
We design new art projects for each round of Holiday Workshops, and often bring back much-loved ones from the past. Students choose their project, bring their own ideas and creativity to make it their own, and complete a finished piece within the session.
Visit our FAQ page to learn how our holiday workshops differ to our weekly term-time classes.
Project Examples
Tamara Phillips Jellyfish
Watercolours always work well with an ocean theme! To create this project, students are encouraged to take a varied approach to using watercolours. Experimenting with using salt, bubblewrap and techniques like blending and ‘wet on wet’ produces the beautiful textures throughout the piece. Students will also learn how to add black ink to create contrast in their piece and break up areas of colour.
Clay Turtle
Clay is always a favourite among our students! As well as being super fun to work with, modelling with clay helps to develop fine motor skills, visual perception skills, creativity and focus. Students personalise the design of their turtles by choosing the colours and patterns they want to paint on the shell, head and flippers.
Shoes on the Beach
It’s wonderful seeing students’ imaginations come to life in this acrylic project. Children learn to use a variety of brush strokes to create different effects with the acrylic paint, capturing the contrast in textures between the sand, the sea and the splashing waves. Older students can challenge themselves further by painting sealife directly onto the canvas.
Klimt Tree
Students use a variety of mediums in this Klimt-inspired project. The technique is called ‘sgraffito’ and involves scratching away the outer layer of a surface to reveal the layer below. Here, we scratch black acrylic paint while it’s still wet to reveal the layer of oil pastels underneath. It’s a really fun piece of 2D art that gets students thinking about creative ways to combine different mediums!

To ensure our high teacher to student ratios and give every child ample room to create, our workshop spaces are limited and are often booked up quickly. We strongly suggest booking well in advance to avoid disappointment. Book through your local studio’s booking page (workshops are listed beneath our term-time classes).
